Yea I love my i7 and all but I have a friend that can get me parts usually for free. So with this option being there I tend to try to upgrade what I can once a year.
Although this is only recent as I had my old AM2 system for quite a while and then decided to jump on the i7 platform in early February. There's still tons of upgrade options now for the socket 1366 so there's no need to do a full rehaul. I'll just pop in a hexa core i9 and possibly one or two GT300 cards. :)

I'm staying with my i7 for a long time. Probably going to wait until the next socket's finished.

I suppose that's what technology does... You just need to wait a while for your own tech to outdate it's self and then upgrade instead of keeping on the cutting edge all of the time.
Unless you have a crap load of money to spend, obviously... :P

Yeah, you are right. They are just going to get better every now and then, we cant keep upgrading every 3 months or so even tho our rigs are solid for now.
