I see a lot of people here, and on other sites, follow a sort of trend. a lot of these trends are cool when they first start out, then everyone starts using them because everyone else does. some of them, in my opinion, suck balls right from the start. like one of my examples. (which you might not agree with.)
Dragon Force - I'll be honest. I think they suck, and Herman Ri cannot play the guitar live. but everyone seems to love Through The Fire And The Flames like it's a god or something. half of the signatures I see on other sites (even damn nintendo boards) I see some sort of stupid quote like "THROUGH THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES WE CARRY OOOOON" or "DRAGONFORCE FWT". and yes, the misspelled 'ftw' is intentional. my number one bandwagon-fad right now.
'Catchy' Sayings - this is definitely common when an Admin on a site says something genuinely hilarious, and then everyone starts using it. it gets old, fast. that's not the only case, though. I see kids running around my school acting all "gangstuh", yelling retarded shit like "BALLIN'" or "CHYEAYUH" (pronounced chu-yeah-yuh). most people just look at them and call them fags. which is ironic because they go off and say something else that's completely bandwagon-worthy. number 2 on my list.
4Chan - I'll be honesty again. 4chan sucks, it's full of assholes and stupid shit. yeah, it's funny, but everyone I know at school has some deep obsession and can't stop talking about "Anon". yeah, it's funny the first time but enough already.
besides, ytmnd rips them off, then youtube rips ytmnd. so it's a big cycle.
Japanese Culture Freaks - have you ever met someone (most commonly a girl) who's fucking obsessed with japanese people? it's cool to like the culture, but when you start skipping school to learn 'japanese', it's a little messed up. and that's not even it, they have little groups that run around saying japanese words and it's annoying as fuck.
there's a girl like this in my english class, and I thought I would never stop hearing "Desu Desu Desu".
Emo - They're not just depressed, they're depressed in fashion! Emo has to be one of the oddest fashions I've seen. it's cool that you want to "express" yourself and shit, but that's just too far. especially considering all of your friends look the exact same. it's either a bandwagon trend or some dude cloned himself a million times. I do actually know a lot of emos, but they aren't as bad as the ones I've seen.
there's one guy at my school who wears tight, pink muscle shirts, tight pants, and one side of his head is completely shaved and the other is as long as sin. it looks disgusting. I admire him for being so damn brave though, and his girlfriend is kind of hot. |
